Understanding Special Olympics

Powerlifting
Current Sport Trainings Schedules

Powerlifting
Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lebanon Valley College.
Training is more lengthy than typical sports running approximately April-October.

Gymnastics
September 28, 2012- June 7, 2013
Boys practice Thursday evenings
Girls practice Friday evenings
Both are from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. @ Paramount Sports Complex in Palmyra.

Basketball
March 6 - June 5, 2013 
Wednesdays at The YMCA at the VA, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Seasonal Schedules

Special Olympics provides year-round training divided into three seasons: Spring/Summer, Fall, and Winter. Below are the sports by season and typical training duration. Each sport has a 6-8 week training period, followed by some type of sectional or competition opportunity that may be available.

Spring/Summer Season

We offer the following sports: Aquatics, Athletics, Tennis, Golf, Basketball, Gymnastics, Bowling (Competitive), Softball. Trainings occur between February and June. Competitions include Sectionals at Kutztown University and Summer Games at Penn State University.

Fall Season

We offer the following sports: Soccer, Volleyball, Bocce, Long Distance Walk/Run, Powerlifting (which actually starts in spring and runs through fall season). Trainings occur between August and October. Competitions include Sectionals at East Stroudsburg University and Fall Fest at Villanova University.

Winter Season

We offer the following sports: Floor Hockey, Bowling (Non-Competition). Training occurs between December and March. Competitions include State Floor Hockey Tournaments at Bald Eagle.
